Scam Hunters episode No. 5: The Priest with a secret?

If you aren’t caught up, make sure to check out the previous episodes of Scam Hunters!

In episode 5 of Scam Hunters, Ezra and Heidi turn their attention to an unlikely suspect: a local priest, Father De Silva.

Attempting to get some answers, Heidi corners Father De Silva at St. Michael’s Church, a man whose charm almost overshadows the growing suspicion surrounding his involvement. But as they say in Scam Hunters, nothing is ever as innocent as it seems.

Ezra’s trust issues surface early on, as he insists, “Priests are always hiding something,” urging Heidi to dig deeper into Father De Silva’s actions. Though the priest seems cooperative and even jovial, there’s an underlying tension. Could this man of the cloth really be involved in scamming hospice patients?

Just as Heidi starts to press Father De Silva on the logistics of his work with the hospice—coordinating last rites and communicating with discharge planners—Ezra urges her to dig into the digital trail. But before we can get to the heart of the matter, the conversation veers into familiar territory: how digital records are kept, how patients’ belongings sometimes end up in the thrift shop, and Father De Silva’s friendly nature as he seamlessly dodges any incriminating details.

The episode leaves us with one burning question: Is the priest truly innocent, or is his kindness hiding something more sinister?Stay tuned to Scam Hunters—you won’t want to miss the next twist in this investigation.
