Scam Hunters episode No. 1: The Journalist

In the first episode of Scam Hunters, Ezra Velotaggio, a retired cybersecurity expert, receives an unexpected call from Heidi Waldroup, a reporter with the Miami Underground. Expecting a quick conversation, Ezra quickly realizes that Heidi’s inquiry is far from ordinary. 

Ezra, in his playful and guarded manner, takes some convincing before he’s willing to entertain Heidi’s request for help. Amid their banter about golf, his reluctance to fly, and DJ Khaled’s jet ski expeditions, Heidi drops a bombshell: she’s onto something big, and Ezra might be the only one who can help crack the case. She caught the scent of a case involving hackers who are targeting terminally ill patients—and it’s somehow connected to a local thrift shop.

But just as Ezra begins to soften, Heidi mentions a $20 million loss from his past. Ezra’s mood hardens immediately, and it looks like he’s ready to walk away from the conversation.
